Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib, hosted an Inter-School English declamation competition under the banner of Sahodaya School Complex Jammu. Various CBSE schools of Jammu region participated in the competition.
The event was graced by Mrs. Nirmal Mahana, President Sahodaya Jammu. The chief guest on the occasion was Prof. Kulwant Singh, Head Department of Law Jammu University along with eminent personalities from Department of English, Jammu University namely Prof. Posh Charak (Former Head of Deptt.) Dr. Subhash Chander (Former Head of Deptt. Bhaderwah Campus) and Dr. Pradeep Kumar (Astt. Professor) as judges. Chairman SIPS Dr. Kamal Saini IGP (Retd.), Director Mrs. Satvinder Saini, Principal Ram Parkash Sharma, Administrator Mrs. Rama Jamwal and Headmistress Mrs. Shweta Bakshi were also present on the occasion.
The programme started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by all the dignitaries invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati through enchanting shlokas which was followed by a melodious welcome song sung by the SIPSians. Principal Mr. Ram Parkash Sharma formally welcomed the distinguished guests and put forth the rubrics which helped the judges to assess the speakers.
During the competition, each speaker exhibited his excellent oratory skills with boundless confidence and wonderful presentation. It was a treat to witness such a tough competition. Mrigank Salathia of Model Academy was adjudged the winner whereas Pranay Bavouria of Stephens International Public School got the second position and the third position was shared by Harshit Panda of A.P.S. Nagrota and Harshik Pakhru of Model Academy.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Mahana extended her heartiest congratulations to all participants and the teachers whose able guidance enabled the speakers to deliver their emphatic speeches in such an extraordinary way.
Chairman Dr. Kamal Saini commended the winners and also boosted each participant saying, “Winning and losing are part of life. Never give up. Always carry on with same zeal and vigour.” He also presented a token of remembrance and gratitude to the distinguished guests. Certificates and prizes were given away to the achievers as well as the participants. The programme culminated with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Shweta Bakshi, the Headmistress.
