World Cleanup Day Held at Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib

Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib alongwith Stephens Paramedical College under the aegis of Stephens Educational Society organised a litter cleanup day to strengthen ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign 2019, an initiative launched all over the nation by the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. Incidentally the day complemented World Cleanup Day aimed at combating the solid waste problem including the problem of marine debris.
The day is celebrated with litter cleanup and waste mapping activities involving 380 million people belonging to almost 600 countries all over the world. The day aims not solely cleanliness but also to engage and mobilize the public in a community and build up the momentum together.
Later a neighbouring canal with its adjoining area was cleaned up, segregating the biodegradable and the non-biodegradable waste. The concept of 3Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle was also discoursed in the market place. The day concluded with the words “let us all start from our side and resolve to establish cleanliness worldwide”.
