SIPS CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY

The World Environmental Day was celebrated with high spirits in Stephens International Public School on 5th June. The message was loud and simple “Reject single- use plastic. Refuse what you can’t re-use. Together we can start to a cleaner and greener world.” The celebrations were inaugurated by the Director Mrs. Satvinder Saini. Saplings were planted by the students as well as the staff in the school ground. The school authorities motivated the students to plant more and more trees in order to make the surroundings green. The Principal Mr. Manoj Kumar Agnihotri interacted with the students and told that even ‘Gurbani’ preaches that nature should be cared for. “It is important to look after our environment in order to make earth a better place to live.” Mr. Amarjit Singh, Vice Chairman and Mrs. Rama Jamwal, Dean Academics also joined the students in this “Go Green’ effort.
To mark the day a ‘best out of waste’ activity was also held. Students used waste material to showcase their creativity. Poster making activity was also held on the school campus to create awareness and help students understand the importance of 3 P’s i.e. Protect, Persevere and Promote ‘Mother Earth’.
To add more colour to the day the school organized a ‘nature walk’ for the students. More than 50 students took to the streets to highlight the sensitive issues of the environment. The rally aimed at encouraging the public to actively participate in the celebration and also keep their environment clean and healthy to lead a better life.
A nukkad natak was also presented which was highly appreciated by the localities. Different questions were asked by the students from local people about the air pollution. Students cleaned the environment with the help of brooms and dustbin were also placed at different corners to ensure the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ that is going on in the school premises.
Pamphlets were distributed to the local people to sensitize on the topic ‘Air Pollution’. The slogans on ‘Save the environment’, ‘Plant more trees’, ‘Reduce pollution’ caught every passer by’s attention. The most attractive was the beautified well- decorated bicycles which students rode in the rally to promote cycling. The rally was highly appreciated by the Chairman of the school Dr. Kamal Saini.
The students were prompted to reduce the use of plastics or find ways and means to reuse them without endangering our environment. The rally was organized with a mission to protect the natural environment. The quality environment determines not only healthy living but secures sustainable livelihoods.
