One day Capacity Building Programme was organised at Stephens International Public School on Gender Sensitivity in Schools. The event was presided over by the Trustee of the school Adv Kunal Saini with the presence of the Principal Mrs Rama Jamwal, Vice Principal Mrs Manjari Sehgal, Headmistress Mrs Shweta Bakshi, and Deputy Headmistress Ms Khushboo Shaminotra.
Mrs Rohini Aima Principal and Vice Chairperson Jammu Sanskriti School and Dr. Chand Trehan, a renowned Psychological counselor and Master trainer were the resource persons of the day. Both the resource persons are renowned edu leaders of Jammu city. Mrs Rohini Aima is a renowned CBSE guide and mentor with a rich experience of almost four decades, adorned with numerous awards and accolades. Likewise Dr. Chand Trehan is an approved counsellor for CBSE and is one of the elite Tele Counselor for the CBSE helpline at the National Level.
Around sixty educators hailing from various reputed CBSE schools of Jammu participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, the Trustee Adv Kunal Saini extended a warm welcome to all the participants and wished them luck. Principal Mrs Rama Jamwal formally welcomed the resource persons as well as the participants and hoped that the day would turn out to be a novel learning for all.
The programme commenced with the soulful dance performance by the SIPSians invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati which left all spellbound.
On the outset, the mentors made the teachers aware of basic gender specific terminologies. Later various other aspects like gender relations, gender roles, gender stereotypes etc were taken up. The resource persons asserted that teachers during teaching learning process must work on the empowerment and identity of all the genders including the transgenders.
Multiple group as well as individual activities were carried out to build and support environment, system and policies that are sensitive towards the requirements of students of all the genders. A comprehensive lesson plan enwrapped with constructive curriculum, teaching methodologies and transgender - specific initiatives were the highlights of the programme.
Appreciating the facilitators, a token of remembrance and gratitude was given to both the resource persons. Mrs Manjari Sehgal the Vice Principal presented the vote of thanks. The entire session was interactive and fructiferous.
